2008 Makers Mark
In 2008 Makers Mark commissioned several Kentucky artists to create works representing some of their impressions when visiting the distillery.
After some fun field trips with artists wandering around looking, seeing very different things, I choose to make two abstract pieces representing some architectural lines that spoke to me.....a curve next to one of the huge vats, the ribbed floor, the metal studs in the copper boilers and more, incorporating the signature red and actual smoked wood and metal from old barrels.....a very potent smell in my studio while working on these.
